Aero SH Type: 3 drivers ITE Structure Frequency response range: 20Hz - 18kHz Impedance: 23ohms Output Sensitivity: 116dB @ 1mW Many claimed the Aero SH as the cheap version of UE10pro, but I beg to differ. When you tried it on, it sounds very full and seems to cover the whole spectrum of frequency. IMHO, the UE10pro sounds speedier causing a better PRaT and a very full-bodied and engaging sound signature with mids which are rather similar to Shure SE530/E500. The Aero SH sounds much "thinner" and it has a more laid back front field. Something more for audiophile/casual usage rather than for monitoring purposes. Um4 Type: 2 drivers ITC Frequency response range: 20Hz - 15.5kHz Impedance: 25ohms Output Sensitivity: 118dB @ 1mW On the other hand, the Um4 sounds more engaging and the front field is brought forward. The highs just lack of the extra spark which Aero SH has but it is pretty sufficient still. It is more focused on the mid-lows giving a good bass feel but lack of the "ooohmmppf" and texture. Custom Shure SE530/E500 (Reshell) This is my first time wearing a full custom and I must say that it is a perfect fit. It fits in nicely with no feeling of your ears being "stuffed" and I can wear it all day without feeling any fatigue. The next improvement would be the Westone ES cables. The original cable is famous for being veiled and degrades the sound quality of the SE530/E500. The cables are so much lighter, durable and flexible as compared to the original one which is rather thick and tends to tangle up. NO MORE Joint Connector in the middle! HOORAY! Everything seems to open up a lot and the front field of the sound stage is brought forward, due to the nature of the ES cables. The "new" Custom SE530/E500 now sounds more 3D and pronounced to me. Separation of the music has improved due to the change of cables and seal. I can hear much more details now and I like the presentation of my music now a lot. It is a good thing that the sound signature didn't change much because my purpose is to bring my SE530/E500 to a higher level of enjoyment for myself and not getting a "better" IEM or customs. Custom Westone UM2 (Reshell with additional driver) The custom UM2 with additional drivers sounds very very different from the original UM2s. The first change is the sound signature. It no longer have a muddy and sluggish sound signature. It still retains the in your face feel but with a clearer presentation. The bass slam is just as good and shiok. The soundstage has drastically improved. It sounds very 3D and wide now. The PRaT has also improved drastically. Flu_fighter later mentioned that after some burning in, the Custom UM2 sounds even speedier and it sounds even faster than his Shure e5c, causing a slight giddiness when he fell asleep. Do note that any adding of additional drivers for your customs will require burning in and the sound signature tends to change along the time. Thumbs up to Unique Melody. * Pictures will be uploaded soon when I have time. * Custom UE Super.fi 5eb review to be up as soon as I get to compared it with my original. |

For the sf5eb, will it be install with the UE universal or Westone custom slot? sf5eb sound very good with the new UE v3 universal cable. The Westone ES cable and UE custom cable change the sound signature of sf5eb which defeat the purpose of getting sf5eb. Not to mention it sound worst to my ear too. |

You can have the option to use different cable option. The sales assistant will be asking you whether you want the UE or Westone slot when you make your order. However, yuujin chose Westone ES Slot due to availability reasons. Singapore's new UE distributor still refuses to bring in the replaceable cables. Personally, I would take the UE slot option because I have a v3 cable with me and I do not like the Westone ES cable's sound signature. Not that it doesn't sounds nice but it is just inferior to UE stock cables. |

I know about the option. In that case, if the reshell sf5eb still sound similar using Westone ES cable, UM must have done a lot of work to tune the sound. sf5eb sound really good with the v3 cable. I think the UE universal plug plastic can be shave down to enable it to fit Westone slot. You send in your E500 to reshell too? Interested to see if the reshell E500 retail the magical mid and improve the high. Can't wait for the review

Firstly, there will be no tuning for purely reshelling jobs. Next, The Westone ES pin is larger than UE universal pin. It will surely be loose. Yes, I sent my e500. Will do the reviews as soon as I received back my e500. Will also do up their in-house customs when I have some spare time over my side. |

Whats your definition of 'better'? They are just different hole sizes to fit different brands of sockets, don't think theres anything spectacular here unless your referring to the cables' sonic differences, this which you got to get the others opinions as I'm not too familiar with(shure fan!). No problem with accessing Unique Melody, but the english is kinda off...I guess the translator they used is really a hit and miss thing... |

Yes. UE custom slot is a little bigger than the universal one. There is always ways to make it more versatile. Of course with some work. |

All I can say for now is that the westone cables are really a great pleasure to use coming from a rather long history with shures(e3/e4/e500). Over time I've found the shure cables to be really clunky, especially with the e500's additional connector, now I can barely feel the cable tension from its own weight, really light and comfy! Late adopter yea, but I've always been a minimal sort of guy...1 can at a time! |

I hope people will be able to read reviews as a form of sharing opinions, especially in the rigs that everyone run differently. One might find a certain combination to be engaging while the another finds it too upfront. I for one was really quite uncomfortable with the staging of the reshelled e500s initially because it kind of took on the UM 'big' sound signature which I personally did not like. When amped with the diablo, the increase in staging and details really made it very confusing and difficult to listen to. I cannot really tell whether this was due to the reshelling or the change in cables, but I began to appreciate(after sometime) how it sounds unamped and in short, 'spacious', 'detailed' and 'natural'. Both Ahdui and I came from using UM56s and it took me quite a while to tweak my rig to get results I liked. I believed this is because his rig was quite highly tweaked to his preference while mine was a 'grow to love what I like' rig...yea, psychoacoustics very much like how they say the mind is our largerst sex organ Will post my detailed impressions after submission this friday...have a couple of new toys in as well...I call this the 'Submission Stress Spree'... |

Yes, the um2 now sounds brighter but the e5c is still more engaging. I definitely prefer the SE530 because it is my "benchmark" for iems. The SE530 is not as bassy as the UM2 (original) but the UM2 with additional drivers have a much cleaner and tighter bass. |

Haha.. Frankly speaking, after hearing my custom tp10 for more than 100 hours, i feel that the soundstage get bigger than initial hearing. So i guess you have to get use to it. And it makes the songs sounds sharper and faster, decay sounds better too. Bass control improve. Treble improve by a little. The rest seemed to be constant. Maybe because of the ES cable? I agree with you that it sounds better un-amped. Maybe UM is trying to help us save money?

My dad's tf10p + 1 mid driver (used to be mine ) is back. Its' using Westone ES slot with modified UE universal v3 cable.![]() ![]() ![]() Now it fully worth the package it came with. ![]() ![]() The sound to my ears is unlike the original tf10p. Micro details appears and soundstage is expanded in a round shape instead of the original oval shape. Bass hits harder and lower, mid is bought foward with much needed texture and highs sound more natural and tame. IT different sounding from UE11p which is tend to be believed by most.
