This is a screen capture of the menu that pops up attempting to test-convert an audio file from WAV to MPC on a Vista Ultimate machine. It appears to be asking me to locate the MPC encoder but I haven't a clue even where to look.

you have to download the musepack encoder from http://www.musepack.net/.

Usually i use db poweramp to rip and encode music as I find the batch encoder add on is useful if you want to rip and enocode into 2 or more codecs at the same time.

Yeah, I normally use dBpoweramp but i wanted to give Foobar a test because dBpoweramp is about to expire...I use the trial because I can't currently afford to purchase it.

Anyway, I get a "No Items Match Your Search" message in then folder the encoder is in when I point to it in the locate process. By the way, I'm using Vista Ultimate.

You can still continue to use db poweramp after the trial period is over, just that you will not be able to use the Reference version of it.

As for foobar2000, i think you have to drill down to locate the specific file. I don't use Vista at home, but there should not be this problem regardless of which windows O/S you are using.

Thank you for you efforts to help resolve this. :)

Here is a pic of the OGG encoder folder that has the very same message as the MPC folder:

It only means that you cannot use the powerpack addons and also cannot encode to mp3.

The rest of the functions are still usable as long as you don't encode in mp3.

The metadata can be supplied from freedb instead of using allmusic when it expires as well.
