Another small portable amplifier from Ray Samuels. Wonder if how will it fair because I'm rather disappointed by the RSA Tomahawk![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

What's your view on the Hornet? I had wanted a Tomahawk in the past but so far I haven't bit. I'm pretty well impressed with my Hornet but it could be better. |

I previously owned a Hornet M for 1 year and I'm glad that it served me well. I love the aesthetics. Nice sexy black brushed metal casing with gold knob. The sound quality is also superior to the Tomahawk. I was attracted to the Tomahawk when it first came out but rather turned off when I heard it. The hornet wins hands down in the extensiveness and the traditional RSA warm sound signature. |

Sadly, I have returned the D3 due to severe RF interference. The Mustang is the 2nd and only Amp I own right now. I'm letting it charge overnight as instructed in the the user's manual before doing burn in tomorrow. I have only heard the D3 and the iQube (briefly) but will try to write something up about the Mustang later. All I can say is, out of the box, it has a lot of potential and room for improvements after burning in. The Mids are already there but still pretty flat sounding. Right not I can only be awed by the size of this amp. It's really very portable albeit it's thickness. The make is also very sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. I'll see how it goes later in the day and hope I will be able to test it with my esw10 (hopefully out next week). Edited by palestofwhite, 7 Dec 2008, 04:09 AM.

Can't resist the temptation to give it a quick try.... After charging for 6 hours, i had a quick try of P51 on my portable rig. Fresh out of the box, i can say that I'm a bit disappointed. Pairing with Atrios M5, in the song "Yellow" of Coldplay, there was very serious sibilance which i never encounter before, it was totally unbearable I quickly switch to Emi Fujita's "Try to Remember", and this time i can't hear what she was singing without deep concentration. The vocals were too recessed and it feels like she is singing behind me. The bass and mids were too overwhelmed, not much choice now....but to burn it in for at least 100hrs. |

![]() ![]() ![]() It not mine P51 thou My quick impression is SR71A still excel it everywhere. No contest. As for SMIV and P51, SMIV is still the winner. Smaller in size, much more texture and sound fuller. Much better depth too.

Very disappointment headamp. I favor my MKIII more than the P-51. As for "The Raptor" There was nothing spectacular about it [/b] considering the cost. The Yamamoto HA-02 is a much better choice. |

Agree. RSA products is just aesthetics. For pursuing sound quality, it will be better off chasing other brands. |

Without a doubt, MKIII will blow P-51 out of water. A portable can never win a full size imo. For RSA, you are paying for the look and built. |
