Hey, I want to start off by saying that I have nothin against smokers since my dad is a heavy one (2 large packs a day sort of guy). I just feel that this "Tobacco Appreciation" sub-forum is a little much. (don't you think?) After all, this is a audio based forum. Moreover, is promoting smoking such a good idea? Let's think of all the underaged head-fiers (me included) may get the idea that audio+smoking = Cool. I don't mind if the topics are posted in the general discussion sub forum but an entire sub-forum dedicated to tobacco addiction is just not right. Maybe you could make a some sticky threads in the general discussion sub forum? I don't want to come on too strong, this is just a suggestion. Anyway, just think about it. |

Hi That dude, Just in case you didn't realize, our Global Moderator, Ryner has put up a disclaimer about the purpose of the forum.
In any case, Cigar smoking is also a fine art. We have decided to introduce the Tobacco Appreciation (Trial) into HeadphoneHaven for the connoisseurs who pick cigar smoking or any other tobacco related as a hobby. Up to date, we have the Food Appreciation, Photography Appreciation threads. In fact, we have also thought of introducing Liquor & Fine Wine Appreciation thread. As stated in the sub-forum, it is on trial and closely monitored by our Administrator and Moderating Team. We are unable to set an age limit for people viewing this forum. In reality, websites that put up disclaimer of age limit are not effectively barring the minority passing through. However, if you're disturbed by the content in the sub-forum, please kindly refrain from visiting. Lastly, we will put your suggestion into consideration with the prospects of the sub-forum. We understand you meant well. Thank You! Global Moderator zonalblitz |

Hello That_dude, It seems that zonalblitz has explained most parts of the situation to you already. Well to add on, if you noticed, we do not advocate people to actually pick up smoking. Like with the food and photography sub-forums, people who read those sub-forums do not have to rush out to buy a new camera or get some fried kway teow with lard. It really boils down to the readers choice, it's your choice whether or not to read a certain thread or sub-forum. It is also a person's choice, whether or not to pick up smoking and I would really hope that the readers in our forum are mature enough to be responsible for their own actions. Do not blame the sub-forum if you do pick up smoking. I mean come on, you just have to step out into the world and you will enter a world of smoke literally. I came from a "Gangster" seconday school in the west and I did not succumb to peer pressure. At least 15 of my class mates were smokers but most of them respected my decision to abstain from smoking. In fact, I have not touched a single stick of cigarette till today, I started cigars just recently because it is a totally different thing, you do not inhale the smoke and the taste of a cigar is simply fantastic. It was my choice to pick up cigar smoking and I will not blame anyone for it. Period. Cheers mates. |

Just to voice out my personal experience... I work in an environment where 99% of my colleagues are smoking.(it's obvious I'm the 1%) I do have plenty of friends who smokes cigarettes and also Ryner and etc who smokes cigar. But I did not join them nor did they ask me to join them. I have my own mindset of not smoking and I didn't go against my principles even until this very moment. So, it boils down to the individual who decides whether to start the habit or not. |

Hi guys thanks for clearing things up for me slightly. However, I still feel that it would be much better if the forum is made into a thread in the general discussion area. Firstly, it has almost nothing to do with audio. As far as i know, most audiophiles would even try to not get smoke on their gear. Secondly, I know that people should make their own decisions themselves and you have already mentioned in your disclaimer that you are not promoting smoking. However, not everyone can tell right from left let alone right from wrong, and most people, like myself, would just skip the disclaimer thread. With regards to the other "unrelated" sub-forums, they are sort of related aren't they? Isn't taking photos of your rig "photography'? Or enjoying wine or food while listening to add to your general listening experience "food appreciation"? All I'm saying is that I think that it is neither needed nor a good influence. That said however, if I am the only one rambling about this then it's fine and I'm sorry. This is not a debate, it's just a suggestion. I'm just trying to make my case. |

Hi That dude, Photography does not mean taking photographs of your own rig. The 'Appreciation' sub-forums has no direct relevance to the audio, therefore deemed 'Miscellaneous'.
In today's world, people are intelligent enough to understand how they want to move their cursors. Cigar smoking is not a right/wrong matter, you must try to understand this point. However, like I have previously mentioned, if you are easily influenced or disturbed by the content, please refrain from visiting the sub-forum. Furthermore, the tobacco thread for set-up for cigars. This conduct is nothing illegal. Tobacco has got nothing to do with drugs. Thank you, you have made your case. Point is taken and I see no point of furthering this debate with the Moderating Team. Therefore I shall lock the thread. However, if you wish to further-up your case, please do so via PM. Please give wise thoughts before making your point. Global Moderator zonalblitz |

Anyway, The Sub-forum has been closed. The reason for closing it down is a lack of activities and contributions inside. Do note that narrow-minded complaints didn't work for the closing of the sub-forum. **edited for typo. |
