Yoz, just got this in the mail today! Finally I've gotten hold of this legendary CD player which was last made by Sony during the year 1999, after that no more PCDPs were made by Sony.. the end of the era for Sony.. Remarkably, this thing's lid is made from die-casted Magnesium, and it's really solid although thin! Sound-quality wise I wont go too much into it as I use it mainly as a transport but it should be great to be used as a transport at home as well, as it has an optical line output which should serve to function well Straight out from the headphone jack, I detected only a slight hiss with the ER4Ps and with piano pieces playing through, every note is hit with detail and I could detect a slight note decaying noise, but this was more prominent as I ran it through the Audiotrak DrHead amplifier with OPA2107 installed. Vocals were okay, but maybe not as warm as my other Technic player, the SL-XP570, but quite, comfort, operational stability, the Sony outruns them all, and it's truly - the King of PCDPs. PS : It even beats the Panasonic SL-CT7xx/8xx in terms of size and weight, Here are some pics to enjoy! The Sony D-EJ2000 (front), I just love the Walkman logo, nice and cute! Colourful too! ![]() Back of the Sony D-EJ2000 ![]() Naked picture of the Sony ![]() ![]() Size compared to a normal jewel case (it's thickness is the same as jewel case too! )![]() Thickness test with the ever famous Panny SL-CT820 ![]() Cheers! |
top-gun: did your unit come with remote and charger? got a pic of the charger and remote?
Here's for you Fongalv, for your eyes only Sony Dock with the Silver Remote Control (no black!) ![]() Closer shot of the dock + remote ![]() ------
Well, it depends on whether this "transport" of yours is able to give a perfect bit-by-bit data stream or not, most likely it can't beat those stationary transports because they use a better "lens", better pickup "mechanism" altogether and maybe better wirings inside This should already sound great with it's optical line out to a portable DAC. Love it more day and day.. --- On a side note, however, those who are interested in getting one just for using as a transport, u may check out this shop @ 2nd level that has the Sony D-EJ955 for sale. Magnesium black, looks almost the same as mine, but it's total roundish, and has brushed aluminium at the front. Real sexy, and oh yeah - it's SGD$180. |

http://auctions.yahoo.com/sg/i:Sony%20Supe...ple%29:93983235 Here's a pic of the D-Ej955 in case you're wondering how great it looks. I'd definitely say that the EJ955 looks waay sexier than mine, but if you want a brand new unit, there's one for sales @ SLT, flu_fighter. |
